Organisation
At RH Marine, we specialize in the system integration of electrical and automation systems aboard naval vessels, submarines, and luxury superyachts. It’s a complex and fascinating field filled with innovations. Every ship is tailored to the client, and even after the vessel’s launch, we remain responsible for its maintenance and upgrades. Throughout its entire lifecycle, the ship remains our 'baby'.
Within our department Portfolio Management & Innovation (P&I), we design and develop the systems used by onboard projects. For our Power Systems team, we are looking for a motivated Junior Consultant Power Systems to work on sustainable energy solutions for ships.
This role is perfect for a recent graduate with a background in electrical engineering and an interest in hybrid systems and alternative energy sources like methanol. The position is for 36 - 40 hours per week and located in Schiedam.
Job information
You will join a team of 10 colleagues and work under the guidance of a highly experienced mentor who will teach you all aspects of the trade. You will explore new electrical concepts and help develop them using cutting-edge technology. Key principles include employing hybrid systems or alternative fuels, such as methanol, to enable zero-emission sailing.
Together with your colleagues, you will support various project teams from the proposal phase to the commissioning of ships. Your focus will be on energy generation, distribution, conversion, and control. Your specific tasks include:
- Supporting and advising during proposal and specification phases;
- Conducting studies and providing training;
- Building simulation models in MATLAB, such as load simulations and power flow simulations;
- Making project-specific modifications to our Energy Management System;
- Providing third-line technical support (diagnosis and troubleshooting) to service and commissioning engineers, both onboard and remotely.
