At RH Marine, we realize the system integration of electrical and automation systems aboard naval vessels, submarines and superyachts. A complex but fascinating field of work full of innovations. Each ship is customized for the customer and after the christening we remain responsible for maintenance and upgrades. It therefore remains ‘our baby’ throughout the life cycle. You will be working in one of our engineering departments. They provide system integration, electrical design and automation for both new build projects and upgrades of systems on board luxury super yachts, naval vessels and submarines. To strengthen the yacht engineering team in Schiedam (55 FTE) we are looking for an Automation Engineer. This is a full-time position.


Job information

As an Automation Engineer for the yacht building industry, you are responsible for converting functional specifications into program code for the automation of most functions on board mega-yachts. You do this from specifications or conversations with stakeholders. In this challenging position you will work in the yacht engineering department in Schiedam and work on the most beautiful yachts in the world. You will work closely with your fellow Automation Engineers and various colleagues from the project or other departments. During your induction period you will be paired with an experienced colleague for knowledge transfer, but sparring with other colleagues is also always possible. You will also be involved in new developments, where we like to challenge you in your areas of expertise.

Your daily tasks include:

  • support in the formation of new assignments;
  • drawing up concept designs (i.e. functional specifications) with the customer and other stakeholders; 
  • working out detailed design in code;
  • testing of designed functionalities:
  • for more complex systems supporting the commissioning and service (onboarding);
  • in larger projects you will be part of a (multidisciplinary) team;
  • smaller projects you will carry out independently.

  • An excellent salary between €3,559 and €5,125 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience;
  • 8% vacation pay;
  • 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days;
